This is interesting and most welcoming, as to serve others and to be useful for them is an inspiring quality in an increasingly selfish world.
I have found that people who serve others often have deep rooted needs, usually spiritual. Upon encountering such noble souls, a Christian with his/her natural leadership role should exploit this opportunity to direct the willing servant to greater enlightenment. To serve others for the love of god as well as man can make every task they willingly accept become an act of devotion.
All around us there are people who serve others for no gain - carers, voluntary workers, the helpful colleague, a few examples of such ordinary people who freely submit to the needs of others. They present an opportunity for the committed Christian to take a lead, encouraging that need to submit and serve another person. In time and with encouragement & direction, the servant will find enlightenment. as well as fulfillment from submitting to the wise Christian. Ultimately that submission will be directed towards god as an act of worship, and the Christian will in turn be serving god through evangelizing and saving the soul of the kind servant.
God bless all who read this.
So very true, carers and voluntary workers can often be evangalised more easily as they have made the first steps by putting others first. My wife has converted nine people to Christianity including two colleagues at her workplace, by recognising their need to serve. Being assertive with them and patiently nurturing their need she has guided them to the word. Jesus washed the feet of others, this is an example of selfless piety in a selfish world.
Ravi, this is wonderful news, maybe your wife could write something for us?
Please see the sermon I posted on the new topic/thread 'Submissive Obedience', it is very relevant.
I hope it helps those of you who take advantage of the opportunity to bring the mild mannered and passive under control so you can guide them to a life of useful service.
God bless you all, and always in my prayers
Ravi
